Hockeytown Cafe is garish and gaudy, with the one of the brightest video screen and ticker scroll outside, along with a gigantic hockey puck and images of Wings legends. The inside is massive, memorabilia-choked and always crowded. The beer is cooled by a seven-inch-wide "ring of ice" and the food is more varied than the usual sports bar fare.

Great Beer Selection – If you have not been recently, you need to go! 63" Plasma TV's too numerous to count, huge selection of draft and bottled beer, cool motorcycle display, great food and service. Best place before during or after and event downtown!
Wings – Go watch the wings dominate people here and have the time of your life. It is so awesome you will love it
Bring your Red Wings passion and indulge in cuisine that's much better than bar food. – In Short This is Red Wings central: See high points of Stanley Cup victories, statues of Steve Yzerman and Gordie Howe and jerseys from the old days. When Second City is playing (in the same building), a young crowd primes itself at Hockeytown's ice bar beforehand. Several levels above bar food, the menu includes some traditional dishes like salmon, ribs, cobb salad and strip steak, and some a little showier, like spinach-and-brioche-encr... read more
Only for the Bennegans / TGI crowd – If you like very average, mass-appeal food and beer, you'll love this place. It's one of the most popular spots in Detroit. It's a bar, a restaurant, and a club, and even has a theater. Everybody in town knows about it, and inevitably comers here. Knowledge of this place denotes no sophistication. I've been there 20 times or so, due to friends under various circumstances. If you are a beer or food snob, this place is only for the socialization, of which you will find plenty.
Interesting Comdey Troupe if you're looking for something different to do on a weekend...Second City may be it.... Second City Comedy Theater has shows on weekends that somewhat resemble sketches you'd see on Whose Line Is It Anyway. Some of the sketches are not as funny unless you're hip to Detroit and what's going on politically and socially there. Otherwise they have some pretty funny sets. The one thing is that it's somewhat pricey for a short comedy show. I wasn't greatly impressed...but it was nice to do something diff... read more
Great Atmosphere! – Of course this is a great place to be during a Red Wing game, but it's great everyday! Lots of Red Wing memorabilia, almost like a little Red Wing museum. Menu wasn't what I was expecting, I was thinking burgers and stuff. More upscale! Fun place to visit! Go early on game night!
Overrated – The only reason I can think anyone goes here is the name. Expensive, bland, corwded, and the beer selection is horrible.
Yucky Town Cafe – If you like processed chicken, cooked salads, and uncooked Buffalo Wings, this is the place for you. Otherwise, don't waste your time or your money!!!
Hat Trick!!!! – I recently visited Hockeytown Cafe while in Michigan for Christmas and have to say its the BEST place for hockey fans, especially Wing Fans, by far! The main bar with the "ice rink" was an added touch! I will definitely be back...... all the way from South Carolina. GO WINGS!!!!
