The Hippodrome Theatre is the centerpiece of theFrance-Merrick Performing Arts Center, holding all of the center's shows. Located just three blocks away from the University of Maryland, this performing arts theater is a true gem of the city. This Vaudeville theater was built in 1914 and designed by Thomas White Lamb, one of the most prominent theater architects of his time. Over the years the theater went through various transformations, from a movie theater to a performing arts venue that it is today.

Went with my friend to see Something Rotten, 4/22/17. Absolutely LOVED the show. Prior to, we had reservations at The Hipp Cafe. Our food was great and the staff quite pleasant; however, when we first arrived, it was a bit confusing. I found our reserved table, seated ourselves and ordered our food and drinks at the bar, not bad mind you; just not something I'm used to. This show - Something Rotten! - was excellent! Incredible talent and the story had me crying tears of laughter. Love the Hippodrome. I've had season tickets for years.
