I love a good gumbo, and the Hightide's is absolutely outstanding! It's a friendly, comfortable, old-school restaurant-- just like I like it. Oysters are delish, and served up just right. I like to sit at the oyster bar and watch them expertly opened. Gotta admit that I also love the gumbo over at Harbor Docks, but Hightide's is more like authentic New Orleans style Creole with its rich, dark roux-based broth with tomatoes and okra and all. From Michigan on vacation. Always on the hunt for something new. Tried the fried crab claws and was pleasantly surprised. Oysters were very good also. Casual local atmosphere.
They have the best oysters in Fort Walton Beach and their Horse radish is to die for.
Biggest and Best Oysters ever!! Fort Walton's best kept secret (among the locals) ;-)
