My sister has several health issues. The most cruel is Lewy Bodies Dementia. This is such a devastatingly sad diagnosis. I am so grateful her family has chosen such a lovely place for her. High Plains is aesthetically pleasing which I know my sister appreciates. The caregivers are also kind and warm-hearted. Sis laughs and jokes with them like old friends. Very positive experiences so far with care and staff!
I would highly recommend this facility for any patient in need of specialized Alzheimer's care. As a healthcare professional myself I have a lot of respect for the quality of care provided at High Plains and I trust this facility to provide excellent care of my family.
During a recent visit, I felt like the staff was not patient with my grandmother (resident), and became irritated when she wanted to give me a hug when I showed up during lunch time. The staff repeatedly asked my grandmother to go back to the lunchroom. My grandmother replied each time that she would, after she found my boyfriend and I a comfortable seat where we could wait for her to finish eating. My mother is a resident at Hi Plains Alzheimer's facility. I can only go by my experience, and from what I can tell, this is a very well run and offers superior care for all residents. The care providers are dealing with memory loss patients, a very difficult thing to do. From my experience visiting my mother, it appears to me that she where she needs to be in regard to her health.
