Amazing service, great sweet tea, humongous portions, delicious zucchini/squash/bacon medley, yummy Mac n cheese, tremendous chicken and rib BBQ sauce, but the brisket was a wee bit dry. We'll try the pork next time!
Had an absolutely FANTASTIC dinner and time tonight. My family loved the food, but they REALLY loved the hospitality. Big shout out to the entire staff - GREAT JOB! Thank you! We're a bar-b-que lovin' family and like to try as many places as possible when we visit somewhere, but we don't think it's possible to top the experience we had tonight at another place in OBX so we'll be back to see y'all next year (right after we check in - LOL!).
The only problem was not being able to hear your name called. Long line, waiting outside. He made things right and exceed my expectations. You definitely won't walk away hungry. Delicious authentic bbq. Especially the potato salad! Thanks, High Cotton BBQ!!!

High Cotton BBQ has the best ribs and fried chicken. Always eat there twice at least while on vacation. Their smoked cabbage is a great side. If you are in Kitty Hawk NC you must try it!!!
My husband and I visited High Cotton on a recent trip to the Outer Banks. We were excited to try Carolina barbeque and were extremely impressed by the quality of the food AND impeccable service. We own a water smoker and a pit barrel smoker, and thus we rarely find barbeque restaurants up north that are anything decent. I'd highly recommend to anyone to go to High Cotton! If you are renting a condo or house, they offer take out portions (with recommendations of how much is needed for a particular number of people) as well.
I am a Georgia girl, but this NC BBQ was fantastic! We read reviews in preparation for our 10-year anniversary trip to the Outer Banks. Although we had read the reviews, it still exceeded our expectations. Everything (food, service, atmosphere) was excellent!
We come here every week we come down it's what we do for dinner the first night. Best food ever!! We look forward to it every year and we come hungry and leave stuffed!!
