Spread through several floors of an old Victorian house, Hi-Spot Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to Madrona regulars and visitors from other neighborhoods. Comprised of variations on standard egg dishes, burritos and pastries, breakfast here feels like a bed-and-breakfast without the bed. The lunch menu also favors standards such as soups, sandwiches and salads, all well-prepared. The more adventurous dinner menu changes frequently, so ask for suggestions and be bold. Expect a wait on weekend mornings.

Great breakfast spot. – I had the Northwest Exposure omelette and my boyfriend had the customized omelette. Both were excellent. They came with home fries and toast. The home fries were pretty good and the toast was very yummy, especially with the berry jam. The place itself appears to be a renovated home, with a bathtub in the bathroom and everything. The decor is cute and modern. The staff was relatively attentive, if somewhat distracted because the place was busy. Even so, we were seated after only a few minutes of waitin... read more
best coffee around – this place is great for b-fast,but the real prize here is the coffee. The barista's are well traned and friendly. Go during the week to avoid crowds.
Nice Relaxing Brunch – Out of all the places I could have breakfast in the city, I consistently return to the Hi-Spot. It's so warm and cozy, I almost feel like I could go in my PJ's and not get stared at. The food is so wonderful - so many choices! From vegan dishes, to scrambles, to breakfast burritos to scrumptious, in-house pastries, chances are you'll find something you like here! The pancakes are fantastic! I'm a big fan of the Green Eggs and Ham and the Tofu Scramble. The old Victorian Home makes for some super nice a... read more
Food and atmosphere The Hi Spot cafe serves a number of delicious and distinctive breakfasts in an excellent atmosphere. During the summer the outdoor seating is a particular winner. The cafe can get quite busy, although service is always relatively quick. Expect to wait for seating on weekends. PROS: distinctive menu, atmosphere CONS: busy

Wonderful Everything! – This has been my favorite breakfast spot for the past 6 years. The food is ALWAYS wonderful. The service is great. Sure, the wait can be long during peak brunch hours - but what good restaurant isn't? The food is worth the wait and it arrives promptly once you order. If you DO have to wait, grab a coffee from the espresso bar and stroll through the neighborhood. Cupcake Royale/Verite Coffee is just down the street. The great thing about the Hi-Spot? It's consistently good with a menu that can satisfy ... read more
Delicious food, great service! This little place has delicious breakfasts, at a moderate price. There is usually a wait, but there's a front area with tiny tables and a coffee bar, where you can sit down and slurp a beverage before you're seated.
THE BEST BREAKFAST you will find east of I-5 in Seattle. This restaurant is hands down amazing. The atmosphere compliments the food; the restaurant is located in a turn of the century home in the heart of the community of Madrona. There is also outdoor seating in the spring and summer in the garden along the sidewalk. Be sure and try the green eggs and ham!
hollis – This is by far the best breakfast I have ever had. I live in San Francisco, but every time I visit Seattle I make an effort to visit this inviting and cozy restaurant. From the charming front of the house owner, to the lovely staff, to the fabulous food - who could ask for more. Now they are opened for dinner - extremely casual fare but really, really well done. Believe it or not, at night it has a completely different romantic feel to the restaurant. I have never had a dish I didn't thoroughly enjoy.
