I had no problem with the car I rented at Key West airport, more so with Customer Service! We had to wait 45 minutes to receive our car. We watched everyone in line that was behind us get their keys immediately for their car. When we questioned the employee at Hertz, what was the holdup, all she said was it will be ready soon.. I didn’t get one apology from her the whole time we were waiting, she knew I was not happy. I even spoke with her how the least she could’ve done was apologize for making us wait. 45 minutes! Cars are not clean. Upon being made aware of the fine print “$200 credit card hold” on top of rental charges upon pick up, when I inserted my DEBIT card into the transaction pad that clearly read a number that was $200+ the amount of the rental, it quickly changed to $500+ plus my rental and approved the transaction. I asked the woman helping me why that is and she unapologetically said it was because “while credit cards are a $200 hold, debit cards are $500” which is not what she initially told me and is very misleading to ... read more

Hertz has always been the best of breed in any car rental service. This experience at the Key West airport was probably the most unbelievable and most disappointing and poor experience I’ve ever realized in any rental process. There were no cars when we landed and it took over 40 minutes as a Gold member to receive a car. That was the best part of the experience; when I returned the car, there were no spaces to park my car. Attendant mumbles. No eye contact. Intentionally rude. Detached. Waited an hour with 20 others while all other brands breezed thru. Fun!
