Slow but Comforting – Wowsa is it nice to have a menu that is entirely vegan! I can eat ANYthing! Whee! The service is a little slow, but, you urban cats, is this so unusual for granola CA digs?! I think not. It's excellent comfort food, I don't feel bad for slouching, and I'm always happier when I leave. Good side-drink smoothies, devine salad dressing, and the most delicious vegan sandwiches this side of the IA City Co-op!

still waiting for that salad – Thirty minutes later and still no garden salad with tofu, though we did see them sitting in the food prep area for 15 minutes while the cook looked at us, we looked at the salads, the cook looked at us, we looked at the salads--you get the idea. Not sure if a little passive aggressive dance was going on or if the staff really is that inept. The server lady kept saying any minute and looked anxiously at the salads that sure looked ready to us, but maybe we didn't look hungry enough to the cook. ... read more

Why so rude? – Invariably, the reluctant, attitude-ey staff makes you feel like you are intruding somehow for ordering or inquiring why anyone hasn't attended to your table for 35 minutes. One server forgot my drink and didn't come back until I was finished with my meal and remarked, "oh, i'm sure you're over it by now." "Um, no."

The absolute best, healthiest food in SF – I've been to Herbivore at least 5 times and have to say it's got to be one the best places to eat in the City! The food is delicious AND healthy AND cheap! I have to admit I'm partial to the Grilled Portobello and Eggplant Sandwiches. The broiled, seasoned fries they're paired up with are so flavorful they taste as good as (if not better) than the ones cooked in oil! The Service is excellent as well with friendly, attentive waiters. Parking (street) can be difficult on busy nights s... read more

Good Green Eating – This is definitely worth the money. Me and my partner went to the location on Hayes & Divisidero and it was great. We even splurged on the wonderful chocolate cake. All under $40. You can't beat that.

See for yourself! – We were reluctant to go to Herbivore because of the mixed reviews. We decided to try it out for ourselves and were pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly and fast enough. The menu is all vegan with a wide range of dishes. There were 6 of us ranging in age from infant to middle-agers. Our picky 13 year old loved the lentil soup and the smoothie. We had a veggie burger, kabobs, pasta dishes and salads. All were quite tasty and reasonably priced. I'm sorry to hear that some people had bad experiences... read more

herbibore you mean – I've given this place a try a couple of times now and I haven't been satisfied yet. While the dishes are sort of imaginitive, it lacks spice and flavor. I guess it's great for people who like bland. Plus it's really noisy and filled with granola parents who have children with bad manners.

Nice Ambience, Decent Food – Great ambience: very relaxed, friendly and NICE staff. Had a Veggie Shwarma on my first visit to the Divisadero location. The sandwich was spicy and garlicky--fairly one-dimensional. Though we didn't have dessert, this eatery seems like a good place to grab a cup of coffee and something sweet.

Having tried several vegetarian restaurants in the city I highly recommend Herbivore. IT has a wide variety of entrees and also non-alcoholic drinks. I've visited this restaurants several times and found the food very tasty with a creative blend ingredients and flavors. Ive read some review and concerns about their service, but have never had issues with the service, but then again I only go the one on Divesadaro. I'll say I miss having a good desert here, the variety is limited and the presentation is not what Id expect fro... read more
