The people leaving 1-star reviews don't actually eat here. They're members of a misogynistic fundamentalist fringe group who are angry that HVE is inclusive of all women. I'm not close enough to eat there either, but I'll leave this quote from someone who was there yesterday: "I love HVE so much, y'all. Their food is amazing, everyone there is The Sweetest, and they do s%^* like this [posting a notice that they're trans-inclusive and that anti-women bigots should eat somewhere else.]"

Very welcoming vibe. I eat meat but I've been eating their food ever since they were a truck hitting up various spots around Oakland and San Francisco. Incredibly generous owners who have worked hard to create a community here in Oakland. A very creative menu that offers items that are hard to find done well in a vegan setting. Really do love the fact they made their home in Oakland and love what all they've done for their community.
This place had the best "chicken" and waffles I have ever had. SO flavorful. I am so blown away by the flavor every time I'm there.
