Why does anyone go anywhere else, ever, for barbecue? Now, I love my Carolina style too--but if you want something sticky, smokey and sweet--this is your spot. This has been a favorite in my home for a very, very long time. One of my favorite stopovers when I have guests in town for an excellent, easy dinner after a long day of traveling or sight seeing. Such a wonderful institution. When you think of barbecue up on the north shore, you think of Hecky's. Love.
What happened to this place? It used to be great. Today I stop by to get some ribs and rice and beans. The rice and beans tasted terrible. Whatever herb they put in it was not good at all, I threw it away, the worse part was the ribs. Now, I have to tell you that I was a butcher for many years so I know what I am talking about. Some of the ribs were from meat that was old and getting spoiled, I know exactly what that tastes and smells like and it's not good. I hope they pay more attention to everything they do.
