RecommendedLove this place. Staff are amazing.
My mother spent the last 4 1/2 years of her life there! Many staff members had been there a long time and they didn't put up with employees who couldn't or wouldn't do the work. They were always cheerful and kind to Mom and to all her family who were in and out daily. I'm at this site now because another family member is ill and this is the kind of small town, big heart care I want for him.
I worked in this facility for 3 months, in those three month's I witness things that would literally make your heart sink and make you sick to your stomach. The nurses that work in this facility are sad excuses for nurses. They do NOTHING but bully and the bare minimum for the residents. They would huddle up and bad mouth the residents in front of them, it was like being in high school all over again. Not to mention they were twice my age and acting that way. Worst Facility I’ve ever been to or worked at in my 12 years working in this field
The admin is more concerned with the seasonal decorations then the patient care going on in her facility. The charge nurse Rose Hewitt never gets out of her chair. Even during a code it takes an act of congress to get her to move for the sake of the residents. She yells at the residents and talks to them in a rude and hateful manner constantly. I Worked here in 2004. I had a passion and desire to become an RN. I physically and mentally worked as hard as I could to give the residents the best care for just $7 per hour. After 2 months of torture, seeing residents treated poorly by other workers and finally reporting the physical and mental abuse, I was fired by the owner, Ladonna Ross. I will never forget the residents I so cared for, and the true hell that I experienced at this place. I pray that things have changed for the better by now.
My mom was at this facility a year., longer than she should have been. LaDonna Ross owner is a tyrant and bully to family members who advocate for their family members. Getting care for residents is a daily struggle. They think every resident has memory problems, and take advantage of that. I had no idea how really bad they were untill I moved my mom. Hind sight is 20 - 20. Hope this helps someone to not make the mistake I did putting her in , what I thought was a small family friendly facility.
