Dr. Abdo did a discectomy foramenectomy laminectomy on me when I was about 30 years old. I was in more pain and very weak for months after the surgery. Dr. Abdo told me the surgery went perfectly and I shouldn't have any more problems. He was unsympathetic and downright mean to me. He refused to give me a referral to physical therapy for months and months after the surgery. I finally got a referral for PT from my primary care doctor which helped somewhat. I went to another surgeon and he had to perform a fusion to correct th... read more

Had some pain radiating across my shoulders and upper arms. Dr Abdo started out giving me 400 MG of Gabapentin once per day. After a month this dosage was not working so he increased it to 600 MG. I have a friend with a similar problem that was prescribed 1200 MG of the same drug to start with. Finally after going back and forth with him for months trying to get the medication increased I finally got up to 1200 Mg per day. This also did not work. I called his office and asked what he could do next. His answer, NOTHING.

I was referred to Dr. Abdo for cervical problems and pain. I already knew I needed fusion in my neck, and he confirmed it with me and told me everthing I needed to know. He operated on me for the cervical fusion, I had no problems with the surgery until a recent car accident, which was one year after the surgery, but I will be going back to him for the neck, and lumbar back problems, because I trust his opinion and he's one of the best in his field. I've been to physical therapy which didn't help, and pain management which hel... read more

Dr. Abdp performed a discectomy on me in 2004. A week later I was transported in the middle of the night to the hospital with a severe infection at the surgical site. I ended up spending a week in the hospital in order to get the infection under control. I ended up having to go back under the knife to clean the site up. I spent well over a month self administrating antibiotics via a port in my chest. At once I started to heal, it was apparent that I was in worse shape than when I was prior to my surgery. I visited one of the... read more

I saw Dr. Abdo after being doignosed with an aneurysm and being hospitalized for a severe seizure. All doctors involved, including my excellent neurologist, Michael Sellman, agreed the seizure was due to extremely low potassium levels in my body, a common identifiable cause of seizure. At the time I saw Dr. Abdo, he vehemently disagreed that my seizure was caused by poor potassium absorbtion-in fact, he stated a seizure could not be caused by potassium levels.

Dr. Abdo was not helpful at all in my situation. I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation I and Pseudotumor Cerebri by world-reknowned specialists at the Chiari Institute in NY. Dr. Thomas Milhorat, who founded the Chiari Institute, was my diagnosing physician and one of my surgeons. My case was very hard to diagnose because it was "borderline". One of my surgeries consisted of placing a programmable shunt. I found Dr. Abdo's name on a list of doctors I could see locally to have my shunt adjusted as needed(certainly easier t... read more
