About this business

Since 1975, this Harvard Square establishment has been considered a pioneer of modern American cuisine. Artwork on the walls depicts the harvest scenes from which the restaurant takes its name. The rich red maple floors and the creamy yellow walls also bring the harvest season to mind. From the lunch menu, be sure to try the harvest burger with house fries or the open-faced grilled ahi burger. Exceptional dinner entrees include chilled lobster with eggplant and the roasted rack of veal with pineapple sage sauce. The restaura... read more

One of Harvard Square's premier dining destinations serves seasonal, modern American fare to well-heeled regulars. – The Scene A local institution since 1975, Harvest has long been the go-to spot for Cambridge luminaries and visiting academics in search of seasonal, upscale New England cuisine. The interior, all warm woods and muted browns, befits the restaurant's name, and the handsome, clandestine bar provides one of Harvard Square's most romantic date spots. Informed, polite servers are well-versed in the menu's many intr... read more

Horrible – If you like pretentious conversation, poor service by odd little waiters who basically ignore you and overpriced food that isnt very good regardless, feel free to visit this little gem tucked away in Harvard Square. The shrimp cocktail was chewy, the veal was tough and the asparagus was overcooked. The weird little waiter was our favorite. He was one of the least sociable individuals we have come across and the fact that Harvest even hired someone like him calls their judgment into serious question. I would have r... read more

Great food, but service is variable – With its delicious food and warm atmosphere, the Harvest should be a terrific dining destination. But the service ranges from very good to downright awful. Once when dining with friends, I ordered the wine, but the waiter presented it to the only male at the table for tasting (who then directed the waiter back to me). Another time, a friend staying at the Charles Hotel made brunch reservations. We were the first arrival, so were asked to wait at the bar while our table was prepared. But ... read more

disappointed – I've read many positive reviews of Harvest, but I wasn't as happy as I might have been about the food or service.

was looking forward to my meal – I guess I don't see what the hype is about. I wasn't happy with my experience here. I can't recommend this restaurant based on the food I had.

definitely worth a visit – anytime i am in cambridge, i try to arrange to meet friends at the harvest bar. great spot for great conversations - and if you decide to stay for the food - i always have had stellar experience. Love the drinks, the wine, the service, and especially the food. And leave room for dessert. Pastry chef is Liz O'Connell, and her desserts are fantastic. ALthough I love chocolate and usually make a beeline for it, she makes desserts that are special even without the sinful stuff! Definitely worth a visit... read more

You Won't Go Wrong with a Visit to Harvest – Although not a place I can afford to eat weekly, Harvest will not disappoint even the most seasoned palettes. The service was inpeccable - extremely knowledge waitstaff, and a menu that was extraordinarily creative. I had the lamb chops, which have since become the benchmark by which I measure the quality of all other lamb chops - no one comes even close. Presentation, service, and the wine list (which was extensive, yet there is something for everyone) are well worth the price of... read more
