In 1964, when Harold Hartzler made the decision to stop using chemical pesticides and herbicides on his farm, it was not a marketing decision. He did it because he had witnessed the effect of chemical run-off on a neighboring farm after a storm. It was then that Harold decided to farm only "as Nature Intended". I’ve had their butter at @cherbourg bakery in Bexley, Ohio. I live in Texas so I get to Ohio once or twice a year. I still dream about this butter. I plan on buying some and bring it home with me to Texas. I like it better than any gourmet butter or Kerrygold.
Just finished the last of the egg. I'm going into withdrawal already. I drive from Hendersonville, NC to get the best egg nog ever!
I expected higher quality ingredients from Hartzler. Corn syrup, natural and artificial flavors, mono and diglycerides (a source of trans fats), guar gum, carrageenan, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, and dextrose are in their egg nog. Why spend the effort to have high quality dairy to just end up with a product on par with big Ag?
