harters is fantastic! i went to harter's for my wedding cake and was absolutely amazed. it was so moist and delicious and was exactly as i'd ordered it. they even put my fake flower on it as well as the ribbon i bought. great experience.
Completely not what I ordered We ordered a Minnie Mouse 1st birthday cake for our daughter. When I picked it up (after they called me to get it early because it was a holiday and they wanted to leave early) the cake was completely wrong. It had a Mickey Mouse layout on it without Minnie at all, didn't match up to the number of layout it was suppose to have on it (she double checked in the book), the colors were red, blue, and green, not pink like indicated on the order, and my daughters name was misspelled. Stale dounuts I bought a dozen doughnuts, Half of them were cake doughnuts with coconut & all six were either over cooked or stale but were all hard & dry. the other six were grate. I'd bought the cake doughnuts with coconut before & they were always good. I called to tell them & they like questioned my integrity to say they would check with the bakery as if need confirm truth. I found it to be insulting & they lost a good customer! They had no apology or offer to make it right.
PIES Ordered MINCE MEAT pie specifically for Thanksgiving and also purchased a pre-made pecan. When we had dessert, the pie was actually DUTCH APPLE, they had given me the wrong pie. Great tasting, but disappointing that the counter girl didn't check better prior to bagging my order from the back of the bakery, since I never saw the pie. Will of course return for more business but will be more careful next time.
WOW Still WONDERFUL...several years ago they changed hands, but the degree of excellence has continued if not gotten even better! I'd rate them as one of the best bakeries in the St. Louis area, if not the best!
cutest dog cake ever! I ordered a dog cake for my 5yo birthday and it looked so real! Lots of icing to make this dog, but many comments on how neat it was! I love their tasty treats and this bakery makes me feel like a kid again!
Great Wedding Cake Harter's Bakery did my wedding cake and they did an excellent job! The cake was beautiful. Most importantly it was delicious. My guest loved it! Thank you Harter's!
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. . .BAD CAKE Two days before my sister's wedding day, this bakery decided to notify her regarding the fact that they forgot to charge her for fondont icing. They asked for an addiitonal $300 eventhough it was wrote in the contract. In additon, they ruined the surprise of a groom's cake by telling the groom when calling their home. Harters would not honor the contract, instead, making her a very unhappy customer. It would of cost them pennies to provide good customer service.
I bought my Wedding Cake there My family has always loved Harters. From birthday cakes to wedding cakes, there is always something special there. They make wonderful donuts and have such a warm and caring spirit there. Great prices too.
