Well, it’s not terrible (that would be Motel 6 down the road), but the limp bumpy pillows capture the gestalt. You can get a WiFi signal if you go to the parking lot in the middle of the night in your pajamas. You can find a cord to plug in your phone if you unplug the microwave. We stayed here for two nights at about $220 per night, and unfortunately it was nowhere near worth the price. While the flooring appeared newer and was clean, the rest of the room did not feel well maintained. Dust and grime had built up on surfaces like the baseboards, the top of the toilet, and the sink ledges. The shower was stained, the caulking was thick and sloppy, and the grab bar in the shower had been torn off, leaving it looking neglected. We stayed here while visiting Newport and overall found the experience disappointing relative to the price. The biggest issue was arrival. The hotel's exterior sign was not illuminated at night, which made the property surprisingly difficult to locate after dark. After a long day of traveling, that was a frustrating way to start the stay. Once we checked in, the cable television service was not working. AVOID this place! I stayed here in July 2026 and was incredibly frustrated to find that the motel’s Wi-Fi did not work at all. To make matters worse, cell service is completely nonexistent in this area. Because of this total connectivity blackout, I ended up missing a major FIFA World Cup game I had planned to watch, which was unacceptable. I am extremely disappointed with my stay at Harbor Base Inn. The biggest issue was the lack of reliable Wi-Fi. We booked a four-day-three-night stay, and there was essentially no usable Wi-Fi service in our room throughout the entire stay, day or night. We were often forced to sit outside the hotel in the summer heat just to find a weak and unstable signal.
