Wonderful Evening – This place is wonderful. The staff is so friendly and the booths are cozy. My boyfriend and I went out for my birthday last weekend and I am still gushing about the food. My boyfriend tried the Firecracker roll and our server recommended the Rising Sun roll. They were both excellent. I have never tasted food this good. The lighting in the restaurant was romantic and the fun music made the evening perfect. I can?t wait for my next visit to The Happy Sumo!
Food good, managerial skills questionable – I had to make a business trip to Utah recently, and brought my son along with me. We had been told that Happy Sumo was a good place to eat, so we stopped at the one at Riverwoods. We each ordered sake, but I was a little disturbed that my son wasn't asked for ID (he had just recently turned 21). Our server was very attentive, and the food was very good. Good food, sloppy management. – Happy Sumo isn't bad. The sushi is surprisingly tasty, this coming from one who isn't a big sushi fan, and as well the selection is very large and assorted. I actually have gone out to eat there a lot, most recently on Halloween... which is when I decided it would be the last time I'd go there. Sushi,Service, and Sun!!!! – If you have not been to the Happy Sumo in Provo, you need to go! Make sure you sit on the patio. It makes your stay that much more romantic. You have the scenic mountain and the fountain in the background. What is better than a refreshing cold tsing tao and some fresh sushi. Mandi our server was great. Best sushi, ambience, and service – My wife and I ate here and I must say we were both very happy customers. My wife loves intimate little restaurants and she was in love with the curtain booths happy sumo had. We both were nuts about the sushi and ate every last bite of the rolls that came to our table. Yummy sushi! – I went there last night and the place was packed solid, but the staff did a good job of keeping up with the huge crowd. The sushi, as it always is, was fantastic. I am a regular at their gateway location and this was my first time to this one last night and I honestly can't decide which I like more. Location aside the food is what sets this place apart from any other sushi restuarant yuuuuuummmm!!
The Fish Wasn't Fresh Last Night!! – For the price, I expect the fish to be fresh and to not have to be drenched in sticky sauces to make up for it. The rolls were kind of fat for sushi. The server didn't know half the items on the menu. Kindof dissapointing for the cost and the wait. We waited to be seated for a while and there were empty tables in the restaurant that never got filled while we were there. Next time we'll try someplace else.
Great Sushi and Great Service – Sushi is my favorite food and I've tried many place. Happy Sumo has a great variety of sushi. They also have wonderful dinners for those who aren't inclined to try raw fish. I love the service-my glass never went empty. Busy on the weekends, but definately worth the wait. This has got to be one of my favorite sushi restaurants ever!
Great Customer service – I went to Happy Sumo this weekend and had the best time. I love the atmosphere. It is romantic and so much fun. The Booths are great if you get to sit in one. The service was prompt and fun! She had a great suggestions and let us know a different types of sushi to try like the Lava Roll and the Rising Sun.and recommended Dragon Scales for an appetizer they are great! Try them if you get a chance! The wait is not to long on the weekend about 1/2 an hour for 4. Good times, Good Food, Good people.
