Though the interior of the rooms were very nice, the facilities were worn and not kept up to well. Seems they are low on the engineering and cleaning staff. Not sure we will return. Salamander resort has other properties which are nicer.
This was our third year. Rocks in the surf are dangerous. I don’t ever remember them being there. They said it was from the hurricane, but that was October of 2016. We were here last summer and the rocks weren’t a problem. I heard they didn’t cover them up this year with sand. The beach needs more umbrellas and chairs. We weren’t able to get any chairs on our first morning down after arriving at 10:30 AM. The beach supervisor has advocated with the GM all summer, and the GM only just now ordered more. I teach customer service for a living and go along with hotels, resorts and the hospitality industry. Having said that... This place is gorgeous and the service is pretty good. The room was beautiful and our view was stunning. BUT, we were promised a King Bed room. Got two queens with no explanation or apology. The front valet checked on our room as we sat in our car and told us, “Good news! Your room is in the building.” He showed me where to park and haul our luggage up.
