I would never recommend going here in an emergency or at all. I waited 3.5 hours to not even be seen. There was a steady number of 4 people in the ER the entire time I was there, it was not packed by any means. multiple people who arrived after me were helped. I did ask the reception desk at the 3 hour mark how long the wait for today would be and she said she would go ask. Gets up, walks away, comes back and never acknowledges me again. This by far is the worst hospital I have ever been to. I went there after I fell and fractured my pelvis. While in the ER i had to use the bathroom, so they but a bedpan under me and another pan under the bed pan and then left. With a broken pelvis how much pain can you image i was in, I yelled after about 4 minutes for help. They came back and said "sir, we have other patients." Horrible my husband was in excruciating pain. They did nothing no IV nothing to really help him gave him some kind of anti-inflammatory and a muscle relaxer. I had better medicine at home, but I think that as soon as we said he had cancer that was the extent of their interest. We said we were going to leave got up to leave and they showed us the exit door!! great hospital.
I have had some very serious health issues for a couple of years now and every time I go to the Halifax Health emergency department I have been treated extremely well and listened to about my concerns and also taken into consideration my health complications
