RecommendedVisited for a late dinner to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday. We waited less than 15 minutes to be seated. The oysters were delicious and our sever Tara was absolutely phenomenal. All of our food was timed perfectly! Thank you again Tara!

First of all, the food is great. The problem is not the kitchen. It’s the overall service. I have been there a lot. About once every 3 weeks. Lately, I have noticed that if you are not one of their afternoon regulars, you don’t get the same service. went for dinner tonight on tax free weekend and was charged tax on my precharged gratuity.
Last night, my friend and I chose The Half Shell for date night, because he wanted a steak in a casual setting. Mind you, we have dined here several times in the last year, pre covid. And both of us considered this Half Shell among our fAvorite go to spots over the last three decades. He was told no reservations unless a party of 6 but our party of two would be seated easily. Ordered carry out for my family of four and was told one total and charged an extra $10 for a Covid-fee I was unaware of! This used to be my favorite spot but it will be awhile before I return if I ever do. I understand Covid 19 has affected everyone but to have hidden charges is just not acceptable. I was told their was a sign on the door which was not true. There is only a sign requesting that you wear a mask before entering restaurant.
RecommendedMy husband and I go every year for my birthday. This year because of the quarantine, I didn't know how it would turn out. Today we ordered take out and I always get the Baja Seafood Nachos. 😋 Half Shell did an amazing job! They bagged the chips and toppings separately, they put the seafood in a styrofoam bowl to stay warm as well as the cheese dip..so the chips don't get soggy!! I was so impressed!! Of course the taste didn't disappoint either!
RecommendedI am sure missing this place! Great food and awesome service! I can't wait for this pandemic to pass so I can go in for oysters and some Voodoo Salmon! Miss you, Half Shell🥺.
