Hakata Sushi

3.8

About this business

Established in 1970, this one has never tried to reinvent itself into a trendy hot spot that so many sushi bars fall victim to. Flavor and fun have always been the top priorities here and it shows. Try the spicy tuna roll or a tasty rainbow roll made with some of the freshest fish in the city. Right on the corner of Wilshire and Yale, this place is centrally located to be considered the perfect neighborhood hangout. The crowd is full of locals who don't want to pose, but just want a good roll in a friendly atmosphere.

Sat at the bar after 9 PM on a weeknight and happened upon their late night happy hour for food & drink. Drinks & service were good but the food quality was just ok to good. Friendly bartender though.

This sushi joint on Wilshire Blvd of Santa Monica is awesome. The food is always fresh. The sushi chefs are a blast. The cocktail bar is full of all kinda liquors. This is the only sushi restaurant with a full bar. The bartenders know how to make drinks too.Last time I sat at the bar with 2 friends. We ate and drank until we couldnt do that any longer. The bill was about \$20. Happy Hour is crazy because it is like from 5 - 7 then starts back after 9 or something. I go and have a Kirin draft after work from time to time now.

This is your "down home" sushi place, its comfortable and friendly and the fish is excellent. They have a great bar, serve insane cocktails and everybody has a good time. I gotta go at least twice a month to get my Ricky fix.

I have been to Hakata once and i am never going back. It was the two of us and we ordered 6 rolls. All of them were awful. They tasted so bad and the food was not fresh. The service was ok. My seat was wripped. Very uncomfortable place. FOOD SUCKS.
