Ii travel.for work, stopped in for a trim. The owner suggested taking it above the shoulders and long layers. I declined. My hair was down to my bra strap in the back and I said I did not want my hair above my shoulders. I wanted it rounded on the back not straight across, long layers sounded good..My hair is curly so hairdressers always keep that in mind for when it drys it will be shorter.
