Habanero Cafe

About this business

You know an authentic restaurant is a good bet if its patrons are largely locals or of the region and nationality of that particular cuisine. The Habeñero Mexican Cafe does great on both counts, although Hispanics tend to outnumber the Austin locals. The servers are bilingual and efficient, to the extent of advising you on the gorditas to rating the spice in the salsa. The huevos rancheros and migas make for a great breakfast. What makes the carnitas, fajitas and carne asada substantial and flavorful is the mesquite. ... read more

I was raised on Mexican food and in Austin. I know my fajitas. Habanero's have no equal anywhere in Austin, period.

Got seated first, 4 tables got their food before us. They refilled our salsa and our drinks, but not our chips. They finally paid attention to us when we walked out on the check. ¡Adios!

I'm about to devour these chicken fajitas. Queso is bomb, too.

Veggie Enchiladas are out of this world! Don't be scared by the long line, you'll be seated pretty quickly.

Come out for breakfast or lunch and get treated to low prices, big servings, and great service. The fajitas are some of the best in town, and the vegan options don't disappoint.

Chicken in the fajitas is just as amazing without the toppings as with. Habanero salsa is no joke. Maximum heat and great flavor. Def coming back to this spot the next time we're in town!
