I am a kidney patient that called into to this place today to make an appointment for some X Rays to be completed. They told me that the kidney transplant on K St NW must call them and schedule my appointments . I think that is ridiculous! I might be busy on the day of the appointment that they schedule for me. I am not deaf, dum or blind, I can make my own appointments . This is very new to me. I think it’s very unfair to have to wait for a appointment for somebody else to make for me. Great experience for first MRI. Arrived 30 mins early for check-in and didn't have to wait long at all. Staff was super accommodating and welcoming. I was even able to get a CD of my MRI within 5 mins and received a report of my results day of. If anything, the reception is a little slow, but this is how it is at most hospitals so nothing unexpected.
The triage person was over 30min late so the techs and I had to sit there before anyone could get images taken. They never sent my images to ortho, and when I finally got them the reports weren't attached... and I'm still waiting.
waited over two hours for an mri. when i arrived, they told me they were running an hour behind, but i received no phone call prior telling me to show up later. instead, i sat in a waiting room for nearly two hours, even after the lights turned off because the department was closed. i usually try to be understanding but this was exhausting. my tech was very kind and understanding which is why i give them two stars.
PSA - use Washington radiology if your insurance allows. GW is unable to schedule until months out and then also will cancel if they cannot verify your insurance without reaching you first. This puts patients at risk where a mere month or two delay can mean better vs worse outcome.
