This will be my last visit with GWU at this office. As many others have stated, I do not recommend coming here. I had a screening mammogram about 2 months ago and was called back for a diagnostic mammogram. Apparently the Dr who placed my initial order for the screening mammogram is no longer with GWU MFA, so no order was placed for the diagnostic mammogram. I made my mammogram appointment several months ago and took the day off from work. My appointment was scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30am. I even got a text alert this morning confirming my appointment. This afternoon I got a phone call at 2.40pm to say my appointment needs to be rescheduled. No reason given. The next available appointment is in December. I am very frustrated. If an appointment needs to be rescheduled, please take the time to explain why it was necessary. I rarely write reviews but I feel compelled to agree with the other patients here. A few years ago, my primary care doctor found a suspicious lump in my breast and ordered a mammogram. Because I was in my early thirties, I was reluctant to go but decided to play it safe due to a strong family history of breast cancer. Every complaint below mirrors my own experiences - dating back to the summer of 2023. With all of the time, energy, and money spent trying to navigate the many unnecessary and frustrating barriers with breast care center radiology, leading up to and during a diagnosis (IF you can actually get a radiologist attending to communicate versus some seriously bad fellows), I always feared I would not have the energy for an even scarier diagnosis. As the husband of a patient, I write this review as I have personally seen the stress, angst and pain this center has caused her. The main issues is scheduling. As a GW patient, everything is in MyChart app, but when it comes to the Breast care center, nothing is visible. So it’s a word of mouth situation, and no proof of anything being scheduled, or if the correct type of scan is scheduled.
