RecommendedMy husband came to this restaurant as a child regularly with his mom and dad. It was his mom’s favorite eatery! She was of German ancestry. My husband is now 68 and has lived in Virginia for many years. We stopped by New Windsor today to visit his dad’s grave. It was the 4th anniversary today of his mother’s passing and we were checking on bringing her ashes here to be next to his dad. Used to stop with my dad about 60 years ago on the way to the Catskills. So glad to see it’s still there. The food is wonderful. Great German Gemutlichkeit. Prosit Gus Tavern🍻🍻
Super friendly waitstaff and the food was great.
Excellent German cuisine. I believe mostly everything’s homemade. The dumplings are not Bavarian style potato dumplings.. they give you one large bread dumpling but it is superb. I had the rouladen. My GF had the Cajun salmon and said it was delicious. Both went perfect with a Spaten Oktoberfest on tap.. but to each his own.. enjoy!
