At dusk the pyramid on the Gulf Tower was already lit, which is why I walked a block out of my way on Seventh. The Art Deco shaft still looks like a 1932 oil headquarters from the sidewalk, and the step-pyramid crown is clearer from Grant than from the door. Lobby security had no interest in a visitor without an appointment.
