I loved going to Dr. G and was a patient from 1984 til Newsome Eye took over. They are the worst at care, records, and billing. First, they did a test that I was not supposed to have and I told them, "I am not supposed to have this test." The person did not listen to me and put the wrong drops in my eyes. After that mess up my assistant that I had for many years was not aloud to be with me and guide me as I could not see (so blurry). Regarding the last post...Dr. Guggino is listed as a provider for many insurance plans including those with a vision/ eyeglass benefit. I work for an insurance company. The problem is not the outside billing service. The billing service can only file your claim with the information given to them by the providers office. The insurance company can only process the claim by the information on the bill. I have had this same problem with Guggino every year. I can tell that all these post that people are uninformed and the problem is them. When you go to a Doctors office and see an MD for your eye exam it is billed as a medical visit. If youwant just a regular exam go to an optometrist and and you wouldn't have this problem. False Charges Sent to Collections – Unbelievable!! I have never visited this office, not a patient and do not live in Tampa. Sent to collections and never had a chance to dispute a bill. Found out I have a collection balance with this establishment. Can't get anyone to call me back and had to spend my personal time with credit reporting to clear it.

Bad Experience – I wish I had read the reviews before I made the appointment. Waited patiently for an hour before asking what was taking so long. I was told Dr. Williams was held up by an earlier patient. I was called next and I declined, had them refund my co-pay and left. I simply find it unacceptable for a doctor to expect you to wait for an hour past your scheduled appointment time.

HORRIBLE BILLING POLICIES !!!! – This was absolutely, by far, the WORST experience I have had with billing customer service! My opinion of this office: "money hungry mongers" who only want you to PAY the money now.... My issue stemmed from Guggino Eye billing me a ROUTINE EYE EXAM as a MEDICAL CLAIM...therefore, this FORCED me to pay for the service--even though it was not a MEDICAL exam!! (Routine exams are covered by my insurance!!!).....but I was responsible for the bill.....again, my wife and son went here to get a routi... read more

Very unprofessional, Avoid at all cost – This was one of THE WORST experiences ever. Their billing staff is rude and unprofessional. Wait times are excessive to say the least. I will NEVER go back there again.

Disappointing, Avoid – Unfortunately this is one of the few pediatric opthamologists in Tampa. The waits are unbelievable, we've waited over 2 hours for an eye exam. The office staff is very rude, and the doctors are not much better. We've heard good things about Dr. Guggino, but unfortunately we've only dealt with Dr. Williams and she is rushed and abrasive and does not return calls.And frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if my child has been misdiagnosed as she's gotten no relief from her eye problems in over a year.
