This company does not value their customers. We inherited AmeriGas because they bought Shenandoah Valley Propane several years ago. I would have never chosen this company. They charge you any way they can. We currently have a 500 gallon tank. I called the Harrisonburg, Virginia office several days ago to inquire about downsizing our tank to a smaller one because we aren't using as much fuel. I was told there is a $ 195.99 tank change out fee plus $149.00 pump out fee. Really, but we are already customers?? $345.00, just to d... read more
AmeriGas Propane operates unethically by forcing customers to pay egregious amounts up front for deliveries, or making a yearly "contract" with customers for feasible monthly payments. Here's my story: I have been forced to use an AmeriGas tank for 5 years, given nobody else (the more honest companies) will serve a tank "owned" by AmeriGas. It costs close to 2K to lay a new gas line with another more reliable company. About 70% or more of hardworking Americans cannot afford a $400 setback or emergency...that includes me. So ... read more
Business response:
Ms. ***** was participating in the SmartPay Budget Plan. Our SmartPay Budget Plan is an optional program that allows customers to make convenient monthly payments. It should be noted that under this program although the monthly payments are fixed, customers may have to pay a settle-up amount when the contract ends. Since Ms. ***** set up her account on auto-pay, her settle-up amount was debited as expected when her contract ended. We understand she is currently out of propane but a payment would need to be made in order to r... read more
This company is terrible to deal with. When I first ordered service with them I had to call the customer service agent multiple times for a course of a month to get an application to request service. Every time I called I was always told I would get a call back or an email. I should of known then and there not to use their company. I was told a date that they would come out and no one showed up, it took me two days to get in touch with someone about this matter. I wrote a complaint considering it took them two months to come... read more
Business response:
Ms. Wright’s account was set up as will call. Meaning she was responsible for monitoring the propane in her tank and for calling to schedule deliveries. We recommend to our will call customers that they call when their tank is 25-30% full so that we have enough time to make a delivery to their property before their tank is empty. Unfortunately, we removed the tank from her property due to non-payment. We apologize for any inconvenience.
HORRIBLE COMPANY... Last fill October 2017, started calling in March 2018 to have THEIR tank picked up, called once a month! FINALLY picked up the tank in April of 2019!!! I stored their tank on my property for more than a year, then my yard was destroyed when they came picked up THEIR tank. Then sent me a bill for 59.99.... absolutely absurd! No wonder most of the comments on here are about how bad the company is. It is going to cost hundreds of dollars to fix my yard.
Business response:
AmeriGas denies causing any property damage to Ms. Cl******* property when we removed the tank. Mr. C****** was home at the time of the removal and moved his truck out of the drive so we could use it to remove the tank. The C******** were not charged for the tank removal.
I canceled service in January of 2019 and called to have the tank picked up. The woman said someone would be out to pick it up soon but couldn’t tell me exactly when. In March I called to find out where they were. The woman tells me that I’m not scheduled for pickup yet but she would put me on the list and they are switching out the guys to the other trucks now. She said she would call me with the scheduled date. Then in April I still haven’t been called and it hasn’t been picked up. I called again. She said I’m scheduled fo... read more
Business response:
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in removing the tank. As a courtesy we have removed the charges from the account,
The Supervisor lied about notes that I was told when I cancelled service I was told about a cancellation Fee, After asking Him to tell me date and time, He said Oh I guess you were not told, I said, "see you were feeding me a line". They are not a upstanding company to deal with, buyer be wear.
Worst company I've had to deal with over the past 15 years. Reasons: - Exceptionally high per gallon propane charges - A host of additional fees - Annual "Ameriguard" fee of $99/yr just to lock in one of their already high fees. - Lots of vague customer service answers. Moving to Southern States where to people talk to you like adults and charge reasonable fees.
Business response:
AmeriGas takes all customer reviews and complaints seriously. I have reviewed the account and we apologize for any inconvenience to Mr. Timberlake.
This is the worst company I have dealt with in my 17 years of adulthood. I don't normally write reviews but I just gotta to help other people avoid this company. We signed up for the service last fall, had the tank installed, and then were without heat for two weeks straight during a winter storm in Nashville in November, part of it over Thanksgiving. We called daily for the truck to come fill the tank. Since then, we have had to continue to call, and call, and call to get any service. Every time we place an order, they make... read more

The local AmeriGas manager reviewed the issue above and reached out to the customer to apologize for the account errors. The errors have been corrected and the customer was given a credit to help compensate for the inconvenience.
I had a dispute with Northern Energy in Spokane about pricing, among other things. I ultimately decided to change companies. The day after I switched companies, the ******** ********Ben K***** CALLED MY EMPLOYER. He tried to indicate to my employer that I used my position as an attorney to intimidate him. He also sent an email. In that email he made reference to his status as a retired Law Enforcement Officer many times, and indicated that he wasn't intimidated by me, but thought it was unprofessional - as he laid out facts ... read more
