When we first brought our 2 year old daughter to Granite Bay Speech, she was using mainly 1-2 word combinations and leaving off the final consonants on most of those words. She just turned 3 and those days seem far behind us now. She's consistently making 5-6 word sentences now, and using her final consonants with many words. I have appreciated how focused our teacher is on our daughter's individual needs, and how often she was able to navigate the behavioral challenge our daughter presented at times in her session. Granite bay speech has been life changing for my daughter. When we started coming she was 3 and had somewhere around 30 words few were clear and we didn't know what to do. It was been almost 2 years now and my daughter's vocabulary is vast. We are still working on articulation and dropping off the end of words. But she is able to express herself and be understood by most. And we are looking forward to her being able to join a standard class room with typical peers next year.
Professional and engaging! My daughter has been a client at Granite Bay Speech for 6 years and has received speech therapy services since she was aged 2 (she is now 15). I cannot say enough good things about GBS! All of the therapists are very professional and skilled. They are able to tailor to the needs of the client and engage well with clients of all ages. Nancy Barcal and Kimberli Hyzdu are amazing. Amazing. My son has autism and was nonverbal last year at this time. (we started therapy when he was 2) The progress he has made in his weekly sessions has been wonderful. Today he came home and spontaneously told me about something that happened in preschool.
