SO-SO – This place I have to say is fun. I recommend going at least once!! Yes its busy and the seating time is always a wait.. But The Scooner Sundaes are huge and delicious the food is pretty good, mostly average depending on what you order! But I think its the atmosphere that attracts people.. Painfully Average – I'm not sure why this place is such an attraction. The food is average at best. The burgers are greasy, the steak gristly, and everything is expensive. I guess if you really need to stop in and check the place out, just sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks. Try the Lake Superior brand beers that they usually have. Kids might like looking at all the decor on the walls, but every restaurant has junk on the walls now.
Great food, Great history – When living in Duluth, or just visiting Grandma's Saloon and Grill is a must stop. The decor is wonderful and the service is top notch. You can fill your stomach with anything from burgers to pastas. For a burger, try the Bicycle burger, or for the spicier fare enjoy the cajun chicken fettucini. You can also enjoy any drink you can think of. For appetizers try the stuffed mushrooms or the wing ring combo.
Crowds cram into this noisy, bustling bar for its yummy food even on weeknights. – The Scene There are towering displays of beer, wine and liquor bottles. Signs, posters and paraphernalia occupy the windows, walls and bathroom stalls. It's got a hopping bar and a menu that's as heterogeneous as the decor. This famous place, which sponsors its namesake marathon, is almost a cliched must-stop for Twin Citians making a Lake Superior pilgrimage. Not Happy With Service – 5 of us went here to eat one weekday for lunch, 3 adults, 2 children. The waitress was t obusy with other tables to realize we were even there to take a drink order for about 10-15 mins. After we finally got our drinks and were ready to order we did...the food came 45 minutes later, some of the food was cold, some was over-cooked and one meal was not right at all. No big deal... – Don't get me wrong, food is good, service is good as well, but there is nothing special about this place what-so-ever... But to call it romantic! Huh? I don't see that at all... Next time I go to Duluth I will probably skip this place and treat it more like the bar that it is and go someplace else for lunch or dinner. I know Duluth is known for it's Grandma's restaurants, but it's nothing more than a TGI Friday's or Applebee's type restaurant.
Romantic and Family – The environment of Grandma's make you feel at home, while have a fun feeling. The wait staff are friendly and poliet. The food is so wonderful, you don't want to waste any of it, yet the portions are LARGE!!!! Recommend the pizza, salad, and all desserts!!!
