Oysters were fresh. Beer was perfect temperature in chilled glass. Steak cooked as ordered and very good. Lobster small but cooked perfectly. Fresh Asparagus with Hollandaise was fabulous. Desert was excellent as was the service. Only suggestion would be to make Bernaise sauce available for the Fillets.
Everyday for a living we take either tourist or locals fishing out of Saint Joseph. The conversation, "where's a good place to eat" always comes up... Grande Mere is where we suggest, specificly because we want them to come back to Southwest Michigan! Great service, quality food, amazing atmosphere.

For our taste, this is the best upscale restaurant in the area. But not so upscale that you can't order a Miller High Life beer. "If you got the time, we got the beer". I had the Filet, ordered it Medium, it came out perfect. My wife had the perch, which is always good. If you like Liver & Onions, they have the best I've ever tasted. A few weeks back, my wife and 5 of her friends went here for dinner and 4 of them ordered the Liver & Onions. My son likes their Roast Duck. He orders this often. Great food the owner Is incredible the place has a real charm about it !
I really like the location and the ambiance. Our waitress was adequate. I had the feeling that she was overwhelmed and the restaurant was understaffed. I went through the trouble of going online to look at the menu and decided on the crab stuffed shrimp. When I received the dish, it was covered in cheese. The menu doesn’t mention cheese and I do not like cheese, so I sent it back. She seemed to hesitate as if she was going to make me pay for the dish when I pointed out that cheese is not mentioned on the menu. Most people do... read more
