Horrible Customer Service from Melody - I will never go back! – I had gone to Golden Optical/Dr. Nelson for about 4 years and I have purchased several pairs of glasses, new lenses, etc., most recently a very expensive pair (after my insurance paid its part I paid upwards of $500 out of pocket). Unfortunately, the wire arms kept coming out of the lenses for no apparent reason. very best optical!!! – My first reaction to the last review was "a jealous competitor" of Golden Optical. It made me giggle, in fact. I have been a patient for almost 30 years. I am a "second generation" patient of Dr. Nelson, and there are MANY of us in Oregon!!! Dr. Nelson is a very intelligent, articulate doctor . BE CAREFUL! HIGHLY OVERPRICED ITEMS. DISHONEST SALES PEOPLE – Severely overpriced items. I found out I was 25-40% overpriced on a pair of lenses; same pair of lenses in Pittsburgh, or New York cost me $200-210, at Golden Optical $270. BE CAREFUL: Golden Optical overcharges the patient so insurance "savings" are good. However,list prices are even cheaper anywhere else. Dishonest behaviour. friendly, thorough exam – I had a contact lens fitting and glasses exam at Golden Optical. Dr. Nelson and the staff were extremeley friendly, knowledgable and helpful with my insurance benefits. This was my first time fitting toric contact lenses, and Dr. Nelson tried out 3 different types of lenses until he was satisfied with the comfort and vision correction. The office was clean and nice, and the frame selection was extensive.
BEST OPTICAL SHOP......HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! – LOVE MY NEW GLASSES!!!!!!!!GREAT EXPERIENCE. I returned recently to have Dr. Nelson check my eyes briefly. Dr. Nelson was his usual, very thorough self. The Best Costomer Service I Have EVER Recieved – I was fussing being the brat I am in search of a specific brand of glasses. After what seemed an endless websearch I came across Golden in Portland. The Best in Portland – I don't know what that "negative" review is about. I have been going to Golden Optical since 1990. I have highly recommended this optical shop to my family, friends, and co-workers. Dr. Nelson is the most skilled optometrist I have ever visited and he has the BEST equipment, trained staff, and slection of high fashion frames in the state. The best! – I've been going to Golden Optical for about fifteen years, and my daughters are clients, as well. Long ago, there were some rude staff members, as mentioned in another review, but now they have a crackerjack staff that is so very helpful and understanding. Service is fast, the staff is flexible and caring--I'm very pleased and would never change!
