I've entertained at Godfreys, and been entertained there. The staff has always made me feel amazing and welcome, and the clientele is the friendliest I've run across. Definitely someplace to come back to again and again!

Ignore the onslaught of 1 star reviews. This is a concerted campaign by a group of students unwilling to speak to management regarding their concerns and issues with the bar. Their goal is to spread misinformation and lower our ratings on social media in order to harm our business. We are not transphobic. We are not racist. We have never kicked out anyone for using the wrong bathroom. Our only request is that if the urinals are being used the door must be open. My second home. Without Godfreys I wouldnt have been introduced to my Sister Soul mate Amber Lee. Or as the crowds knew her, Cricket Farrington. I performed for the first time in Drag in Godfreys. The day mother died in November 2003 was the day I knew she didn't leave me alone, She left me with an entire community who has shown so much love to me and my family. Jeff Willis had a huge part in that role. He has helped countless Legendary Drag Queens come together under one roof to celebrate equality, love and respect for all.... read more
Godfrey's was one of the first places I felt comfortable in when I moved to Virginia. I proposed to my husband at Brunch five years ago. It's one of the most INCLUSIVE spots in the city. Go. Enjoy yourselves. I DO!
