Dr Pickens is on time and you don't have to wait.
Dr Pickens processed me like cattle with no consideration of my issues. He didn't even know that you had to check for estrogen of a man when he started me on testosterone shots. Hello, males and females both have testosterone and estrogen. When you are overweight as a male, your body turns your testosterone into estrogen, and you have to take an estrogen blocker. He stated, "Why test for estrogen you are a male." He did not know anything about hormone treatment. I ran out of there and found a good endocrinologist for hormone... read more

Business response:
We are so thrilled to receive positive reviews. Providing great healthcare and customer service to our patients is our top priority.
I felt as though Dr Pickens did not take my best interest into account instead of him asking me what I wanted to do he's the doctor should have given me better professional detail on my options. Around the conversation of NCCN guidelines that indicated a confirmatory mpMRI is needed or recommended before going to active observation, his indication was it was not necessary. It is widely known that people of color are not given better treatment and or advice for prostate cancer.
The Doc is open with his diagnosis and offers practical solutions without over cooking the issues. Accessible.
I came in to the the doctor and/or nurse 3 times in the last month. Each time I was in serious urinary retention stress. Each time I was seen quickly and got immediate treatment. I actually went back to the nurse's station without stopping at the fron desk. I am very pleased with the attention I got when I seriously needed it.
Great. Dr Pickens is very thorough
His office staff is very difficult to work with. I had an appointment scheduled for a long time and a week prior to my appointment I received a message asking if I needed to reschedule the appointment that I canceled. I called and they said that I didn’t cancel but the doctor was not going to be in. The next available was over A MONTH away. During a previous visit, a nurse who reeked of smoke poked me THREE TIMES before getting a good draw (and I have BIG veins). All this while complaining about her co-workers. I almost said... read more
I actually like Dr Pickens however apparently he was going out of town and his office tried to call me about a week in advance. The calls were blocked as spam so I showed up and was told I had no appointment even though I got an email asking if I wanted to do the appointment via tele visit. You would think if a patient who already confirmed the appointment via responding to an email who did not respond to a phone call would not try a text or email to contact that patient. Sorry Dr Pickens - never again
