Recently had my last postoperative followup visit with Dr. Gerdeman. I am confidently on the way to recovery of my knee function (had a twist injury and tore my meniscus). The staff surrounding Dr. Gerdeman are all bright and helpful, too. The office in Saratoga Springs is spotlessly clean and easy to get to with plenty of parking.
I thought Dr Gerdeman had a great bedside manner and he listened to all my questions and concerns. I would highly recommend him.
Was more than an hour after my appointment time when he finally saw me. I was referred to him by a colleague in his practice. He didn't even examine me and simply rescheduled me for a later date telling me I was a high risk patient. At checkout I found out he didn't even have a calendar yet for the month I wanted to reschedule to.
I went to him for 1.5 to 2 years for my knees. He diagnosed me with arthritis and tried injections which did not work. When I questioned him further, he state he would not do surgery. He put me in the category of overweight, over middle aged woman who doesn't need or like to exercise. This was not the case. My weight climbed as I was unable to exercise. I sought a 2nd opinion and was told both knees had torn meniscus. I had surgery on 1 knee (the most severe) by this second doctor and I can walk, virtually pain free. If only... read more
Professional, kind and caring doctor who offers information and unhurried advice. He read my xrays, gave me a cortisone shot, and offered to see me at any time. Unfortunately, a knee replacement is in my future.
