Inhumane transition and total failure of care My mother was transferred from Amorem Hospice House in Valdese to Gentiva’s in-home care yesterday evening, and the experience has been a nightmare. It was an over all terrible experience. A couple of the nurses were very kind. And they were kind enough to donate us an air conditioner when we were in need of one. But the over all experience was awful. We dealt with a lot of judgmental people and lack of professionalism. A particular time my husband needed insulin and it took almost three weeks of us dealing with sugar levels close to 1000 to finally get what he needed only for them not to have called in the insulin tips needed to use the medication. Natalie and Joy were great. There were some policies we didn't quite understand that we found out later were not explained in a precise manner. The initial sign on meeting is rushed and maybe that's why I didn't understand the policies. That's the only reason for not giving 5 stars.
