This Chicago landmark located in River North has been around since 1941 and is considered to be Chicago's oldest steakhouse. Like many places of its ilk, the dark mahogany paneling and white table cloths are de rigeur while the wait-staff wear ties and aprons. The food and service was excellent. My filet was cooked perfectly (medium) and was so tender I could cut it with my fork. My wife had a pasta dish which she loved, and the serving size was crazy large. We also had Brussels sprouts as an appetizer (cooked with bacon and apple pieces) and they were simply the best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had.
We are in Chicago this past week and we could not leave without dining here. Such great memories with my father back in the day. The food, service and atmosphere are exactly the same. Actually the service was just over-the-top. Every single dish was perfect and well executed. To be honest with you, I really didn’t want to get up and leave the table and catch an airplane back home. I cannot wait to return. Thank you all for such a wonderful dining experience.
We dined here this past Saturday, during our weekend in Chicago for the NRA show. We were with a large party, and still every aspect was top notch!! With a full house, I (being in the same business) sometimes expect an extra minute for a drink or food to arrive. Not here! Service was over the top! The same can be said for the food! My only complaint...the dessert was to big!! ;)
