Gorgeous setting tucked into mountains/woods! We did not have reservations but we were fine eating in the bar where Sarah, the bar manager, couldn’t have been more helpful! Nice to see elk, bison & emu on menu, among other things. Really interesting apps, salads & sides...all delicious with portions that did not overwhelm. If you are in the area, this gorgeous p,ace will not disappoint you!
The Gamekeeper Restaurant and Bar is a very unique experience. The food and service was excellent. The menu had some interesting choices like Bison and Emu. If you are not into red meats, they also feature duck, salmon and trout. The atmosphere reminds me of European mountain restaurants! It is a a little off the beaten path between Boone and Fascoe NC. It is very worth the drive up the mountain for the experience.
The Gamekeeper’s staff is amazing in their service and knowledge. The atmosphere of the place is likewise amazing. As you can see from the photos the eye appeal of their food is great. The food was good as well, I just wouldn’t rate it as great. I would suggest it and would go back. I would just make other choices when picking out what to eat.

The Gamekeeper is an AMAZING bar and restaurant. Cannot say enough good things about this place. We enjoyed amazing cocktails and a unique menu. I had bison (BISON!) steak with some beautiful seasonal veggies. My dining partner had trout with some wonderful sides. Everything was a "10"! We've eaten at restaurants all over the world and this one was the pinnacle. What a great evening and atmosphere. Beautiful views from the table by the fireplace and entry door. We'll be back!
