In 1934, Denver's most notorious family, the Smalldones opened up an eatery in the North Side to become the heart of both Italian cuisine and an illicit operation. While drawing the neighborhood's attention to their famous pasta, they also drew the attention from police as Denver's only mafia operated in the basement. Stumbled on this place and ended up having dinner and a subsequent lunch. I'm not into the mafia chic, but the food is really good, they've got good wines, the service and atmosphere were terrific. Definitely deserves a place on your list.

We didn't even get to try the food because after spending over on hour waiting for a table, when we were told 30-35 minutes, we were promptly kicked out of the bar (which is the only area to wait while seated) and asked to stand for the remainder of our wait. I understand a couple had just arrived and wanted to eat at the bar, but said couple could have been asked to wait until we were seated at our promised table. Excellent restaurant! Great food
I just came home from a great night at Gaetano's... The food was amazing and makes me hungry just thinking about it; the cocktails were impeccable, and the best I ever had; the dessert was like the service: sweet and topping this experience off! I can only recommend this place! 5 stars for service, food, drinks, and overall experience!
