Beautiful way to spend Japanese evening – Owner Carol Weston Hanson has done an outstanding job in designing and decorating this fine Japanese restaurant on Lake Street in Minneapolis. The sushi is first rate and so are several signature dishes such as the lightly fried soft shell crab. The ginger and green tea ice creams are made from original recipies. Hanson and her husband (Fuji-Ya's general manager) have continued the fine japanese dining experience began by Carol's mother over three decades ago when she had a now legen... read more

I'll keep going back! – I really liked the food here. The atmosphere was trendy and fun. The service was friendly and honest. The waitor conceded to us that the chef will put out the best food on Friday and Saturday nights. I value consitency in an establishment but our experiences have been good. This place is about as authentic as you can get 1500 miles from an ocean.

Fuji-Ya my Wallet – Stuff your wallet with cash as high as Mt. Fuji before entering this joint. Otherwise you won't have enough money to tip the lousy service...oh wait....,,,, The food is ridiculously expensive and tremendously lousy. What a dissappointment to what I'm use to. I came from Cali where they have have "all you can eat" sushi for $19.99. Here, just a roll will cost you almost as much. C'mon, is the airfreight for shipping fish that expensive?

AWESOME & FRESH – Sushi here is truly unique...and the best. I've eaten all over the US...and so far this place is still the best sushi I've eaten so far. I love the unique sushis they make if you request it. It's not very traditional, but it's hopping...it's good...and it's the best in the Twin Cities.

Bad day or Bad Sushi – Having worked at a Japanese restaurant, being Japanese, and having the chance to try many different sushi restaurants all over the U.S. and Japan....I'd have to say, the sushi I had at Fuji-Ya is sub-par. Whether it was the day of the week or whether it was the standard daily sushi.....it was not good. Whatever the reason, there's absolutely no excuse for the "itamae" (chef) to serve that kind of poor quality sushi. You're being cheated of your hard-earned money, if you order sushi at Fuji-Ya.

Not just sushi – This is a great option for those of you that love sushi but your spouse or friends may not. Fuji-ya has great sushi but also great japanese entrees (fully cooked!). The price is a little higher but you are definitely getting what you pay for. Great ambience too.
