Very Nice Hospital I went in today for an emergency visit with my dog. First of all the place was very clean and professional looking. It didn't even smell like animals, although there were quite a few dogs there when I arrived. In addition, even though I was a walk-in, I was seen almost immediately by a highly competent emergency vet (I think her name was Hannah). I have been to MANY vets who seemed to come up with every expensive test in the book to diagnose a problem. She was thorough, but I NEVER got the feeling she was ... read more
one of the nicest animal hospitals in DC I drove across town to bring my cat here when he was very ill on the recommendation of a friend and long-time District resident. I was very impressed by the operation. The staff were helpful, kind and understanding. They called me at home to give me regular updates on my pet's progress. Unfortunately, my pet passed away as a result of a terminal illness. The staff at the hospital were incredibly supportive during a painful time and made a donation to a local animal shelters in my cat'... read more
Had a fantastic experience. I adopted an older dog, and one month after taking her in she began to get sick and I was referred to Friendship. I have read the other reviews, and really can't believe the experiences of others, because mine was the exact opposite. The very first night I took her there when I thought we were having an emergency, they told me she was stable, and to take her home and bring her back to her scheduled app the next morning because they didn't want to charge me unnecessary costs and didn't charge me an... read more
Great Doggie Hospital Friendship is a tip-top operation -- almost. Its fairly new building near the Tenleytown metro station is sleek, clean and modern. It's organized. They also have an online service which will remind you when your dog would need a check up. And there is a mail newsletter and a sophisticated website as well. There were times when i heard differing stories from members of the staff, which was a little concerning. I had asked one of the assistants as to how my dog was doing, and he had assured me that everyt... read more
Worlds slowest animal hospital. You have arrived. Time on phone hold if not hung up on 15 minutes; 75% of the time they just hung up without answering. Time for tech to walk down to pick up pet 20 minutes maybe. Time for tech to walk down with pet after pet entirely checked out. Time 1: abandoned after 40 minutes of wait time. Ordered 2 pizzas for take out after last visit, anticipating incompetency. Went at 8pm to 24 hr animal hospital Not a single customer visible. When they eventually picked up phone, and said dog would b... read more
I will aim to never bring a pet back to Friendship Hospital again. I had two emergencies on two separate occasions, with two separate animals and they were completely inept in the way they handled everything. Both pets passed in their care and instead of offering sympathy, they were more concerned with how I would front the bill for both! Forcing their “memory” packages. The doctor even put their clipboard on top of my recently deceased cat! NEVER. AGAIN. Shame on you. Do better “Friendship hospital.”
Dr. Matthiesen is fantastic. It’s really obvious she cares so much about the animals she treats. My cat is very difficult with strangers and her and her staff are so patient with him. Dr. Matthiesen is always completely transparent about costs for everything and explains it all in detail. I always feel safe bringing my cat here and I am so grateful for the care they take.
I called today in the morning and they told me I didn’t need any appointment just walk in. When I arrived they told me to wait for one hour and half. They didn’t even asked my dog’s name. After an hour I called back, they told me that they didn’t know when they were going to have availability. They treated me like garbage, no one took any responsibility, no manager to talk with, and my dog couldn’t get the urgent care she needed. No one apologized for my hour and half wait and my lost time. Worst experience ever.
They were so wonderful I was going through so much I lost my baby 😭😭😭😭😭
