Fresh Air Bar-B-Que has been a beacon for barbecue lovers ever since it opened in 1929 by Dr. Joel Watkins. It got its cult status after George W. Caston took over in 1945. First time,nice and clean,nice people,bq,pork,sandwich,pint brunswick stew, hit the spot, thanks, Bless.
Some BBQ joints have good meat but lack in other areas such as Brunswick stew or other fixins. Some joints have good fixins but just can't quite get the meat nailed down. Fresh Air is one of the few BBQ joints that I've been to that has great meat, great stew, and a great history. If you want a true, down-home Georgia roadside BBQ experience then Fresh Air is a must, but then again I've only been eating there for about 35 years, so my experience is somewhat limited.
