Always curious about this place...its totally OK – The French Market is a place that I had driven by for 5-6 years and always kind of wondered about it. 2 Bored friends and I played a nerdy yet entertaining game on Saturday night?. We Citysearch?ed the 15 closest restaurants to my apartment, nominated 4 restaurants that we all 3 had never been to, and then agreed to choose the one that had the highest health board score. We were all pleased when French Market won ?Restaurant Survivor? as the 2 of us that have lived in LA the... read more
Best Pancakes.Ever! – Parking is good during the day,the decorations can be scary or amusing. The pancakes are scrumptious. The syrup is real maple,oh my.Be daring go have you some of granny's ole style pancakes.
what's french here? – on the first day we moved into our apartment. we came here for lunch, every time you drive by this restaurant, you think it's a very popular place, but why? i think the interior is very very tasteless, the food is not french at all, it's just another burger place...how did this place come to this name?
Is This Mimi's Cafe? – Walking in to the French Quarter I had the strange feeling I had been there before. The decor is the same as every Mimi's Cafe in the country. Getting past that, the breakfast we ate there was pretty good. The strange thing was that even though a member of our party knew most of the staff the service was still slow. While I can't tell you not to eat at French Quarter I also can't come up with a reason to go out of your way to dine there.
Family atmosphere welcomes all – I have never walked away without being treated like one of the French Market family. In fact most people take so much time getting to know their customers likes/dislikes its is almost twilight zone-esk to arrive and and already have the drink of my choice on the table before I have even opened my menu. If this is your kind of service: this is your kind of place.
comfort food in boys town – this place is great comfort food. ignore the negative reviews if you are straight and want a good, hearty meal. true, the crowd is old, ultra gay and uncool but who the hell cares? i'm not there to pick up dudes. i take my girl here after seeing flicks at the laemmle's on sunset or dga. it's the perfect, relaxed place to grab good grub before heading home to the west side. get the angel hair pasta with pot roast and bolognese sauce....top it off with an apple crumble and fall asleep with a full be... read more
My very first place to eat in LA – Always a pleasant experience...consistent food, many choices, great waitstaff, overall pleasant.
Why would anyone want to eat here? – I've had dinner there three times. Every time the food was less then mediocre and the service also desired improvement. They don't really pay attention to you, they don't care about you. Anyway, this weekend I tried their breakfast. What a mistake! The omlettes looked disgusting, had no taste and the potato was totally burned. It was simply inedible. The waiter was not there mentally; he was still comatose from his nigth out. Why would anyone want to have breakfast there when a block down... read more
A definite good deal – This place should go down in the books as one of West Hollywoods favorites. The food, service and pleasant casual ambiance is consistent as it was when I first found it 18 years ago. If you are in the mood for people watching, I definitely recommend a table on the patio. For something a little more away from it all, try a seat inside overlooking the live fish pond. The menu selections are abundant! If you have difficulty sorting through all your options, listen to your stomach.
