Consistency depends on the waiter – If you are a newbie, I recommend asking the guy behind the counter who the faster waiter is and seat on his section. Food taste is consistent and HUGE salads make my days. French Onion soup is also good.
French Quarter Restaurant is fair The French Quarter Restaurant is a good place for relatively standard food. The dishes sound great, but lose something in the preparation. A few good items, like the muffins, are available. The food is not bad, just kind of ordinary. Just like the others in their group, MIMI's.
Disappointing after a great start – Started great with a hearty French onion soup and crispy garlic bread, thought I was going to be pleasantly surprised. Spoke too soon, the filet of sole was rubbery and lacked seasoning. The fish wasn't dry or overcooked, I don't know how they got that texture. The wild rice was tastelss, recommend lots of salt. Maybe they have a specialty, but stay away from the fish.
not what you'd expect – I had good expectations for the breakfast since it was recommended. While the service was friendly, the coffee was weak and the food tasted overly processed. I had the crab cake benedict. The crab cake was very fried & tasted like something out of the frozen food section. The orange/cilantro hollandaise that accompanied it was bad. My husband had the regular eggs benedict & thought the hollandaise sauce tasted like it was from can. After looking at the menu a second time we realized, there is nothing ... read more
A good dinner and some random shopping – The French Quarter, at least for me, is a place to have a good sit-down dinner. Parking is usually a bit of a problem, but once you're past that, you can enjoy a nice meal. I've always sat out on the patio, so I can't attest to indoor tables, but the outside ones are always fun for me. Meals are hearty and delicious. An ice cream sundae followup never hurts either. After dinner, I've enjoyed browsing through the shops inside. The only thing I've ever bought was a greeting card, but th... read more
Parking no problem, use the street. – I donot understand someone's gripe about getting the wrong order, and not speaking up! Come on, it shouldn't happends, but please speak up. I have never had a bad time here, sure they are not perfect, budt they will do anything, if possible, that you ask. If you wanted to dine, go to a fine diningroom, such as CUT, and pay there prices. I believe you were complaining for the sake of complaining-and couldn't think of anything else to say. Foodie0987
What a cute restaurant – Very interesting cute restaurant that seems to be very gay friendly. Went on a Sunday after church. Very crowded for Sunday Brunch. They do offer counter service and the wait was not long. Parking lot was too small for Sunday but they had a parking attendant that would ensure who gets there first gets the next parking place...it was nice to have people just wait in line until something opened. Nice touch. This is a basic coffee shop. Only a couple service issues that I can overlook since it was crowd... read more
Gay Diner I love this place...It's like a gay diner! It's kind of campy and cheesy...But it's a great place for comfort food. My favorite dish is the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict! Just picture Eggs Benedict on top of Crab Cakes...Yum! I love to wash it down with their Blackberry Lemonade...
Similar to Mimi's but more expensive – Once you get over the inside-outside patio setting, you settle into the vague famliarity that you've been here before. The food's decent enough, to be sure, but it's very Americanized French food. Our service was really slow and I'd be interested in coming back during off-peak hours if I weren't so inclined to dine elsewhere.
