About this business

Dr. Samarin grew up in a small town just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He feels his most important jobs are being a husband and parenting his two children (soon to be three with an adoption under way). In addition to that, he absolutely loves being a dermatologist. He earned his medical degree at MCP/Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. From there, he served as a flight surgeon for the United States Air Force. Misdiagnosed skin cancer as nothing more than a mole that another dermatologist (Dr C. Sartori) later said looked curious and sent biopsy for test which turned out to be cancer and neck surgery to remove was required.

I had a rare, extremely serious adverse reaction the the antibiotic Bactrim. Dr. Samarin acted as if he didn't believe what I told him, such as the extreme sunburn/rash appeared with a trip to the mailbox. He kept saying "that would be very unusual." Well, yess.. He told me the rash on my neck was a sunburn and suggested laser. I t said that's dangerous because I am photosensitive. In all, I was dealing with a doctor who did not understand this and did not have the courtesy to admit it.

Dr. Samarin and his staff are outstanding. The entire experience from scheduling an appointment, wait time in the office and the actual visit where much better then could be expected.

Staff was nice. Doctor knows less about what I went to see him for than I do! Talk about a waste of my time and his..all 5 minutes! I never got a chance to show him the sores on my chest, arms and stomach. He declared there was nothing wrong with me. And would not answer my questions. WALKED OUT ON ME WHILE I WAS STILL TALKING! I guess because I was not having a COSTLY PROCEDURE I was not worthy of his time. I hope he gets what I have and can't cure it. Bedside manner? NONE. Never even asked me to sit down for a thorough exam... read more

Dr. Samarin is the best! I first met him when I had recently undergone cancer treatment and was totally bald. His caring, compassionate demeanor immediately impressed me along with his expertise. I have had multiple types of skin cancers and have total faith in his ability to diagnose/treat further lesions. The staff at Mountaintop Dermatology strives to know their patients on a first name basis and shows genuine interest in one's health concerns. As a high risk patient, I have confidence in this practice and highly recommen... read more
