Good times – I've rarely had a dull moment at the flying saucer. The selection is incredible. The food is more than decent (I miss the curry wrap.) I also get off listening to the female staff rattle off good knowledge of the beers they serve. The super-vaulted ceiling is kind of unsettling but if you don't pay much attention to it there's nothing but good times ahead. By the way, what is the word "filty"? Noun, adjective, verb maybe? You gotta love this place, guys.
Great Find! – On a rainy Labor Day Monday, this place was open and had it all. The bartender was amazing. She knew everything about all the beers and recommended a few for us to try. They have a club called the UFO club where you register, get a T-shirt and once you try up to 200 different beers, you get a saucer to hang on the wall. The atmosphere was laid back, the beer selection was great and I would recommend this place to everyone!
This place is awful.... – It is a filty bar. The restrooms need to be cleaned more than once a week and with soap. While the wait staff is barely dressed believe me you will not want to stare at them too long. The management is poor and lack experience. Over all I would not recommend this place to anyone. I truly hated it.
Above avg food, below avg service – I love this place and attend regularly as part of my UFO membership. Still, I have had only one great waitress here and she got run off. I have gotten better service at the bar, but this is place to sit at the tables after work. Still, I can't complain too much about a place I am willing to fork over $12 for a beer.
ALmost Like Being In Britain – Its a great pub with awesome pub food and a great selection of ales, ciders, chapagne ales and the like. The barkeeps are very knoweledgeable about all the drinks and seem to have great taste to top it. Not a place to go if you're dedicated to Bud Light but if you have a taste for real beer this is the ticket.
Saucer Chicks Rule. – The Flying Saucer has something for everyone. Anyone who categorically dimisses beer cause they "don't like it" just hasn't had the right one yet. The Saucer Chicks and bartenders are very knowledgable and will work thier plaid skirted hineys to the bone to find just the right beer for you.
Great Bartenders! – The guys behind the bar are just so damn HAPPY, it's great. We weren't there 2 minutes and we were shooting the breeze with all of them, and getting samples of various beers (which they have tons of...). Had a LOT of fun...great place to go after work, but it's definitely not a meat market-and not the cleanest place, but c'mon--if you're a serious beer conoisseur, and you like good conversation-this is the place to go downtown!
Best Draught Bar in Houston – For the True Beer Connoisseur this is hands down the best beer bar in Houston, TX. You can sit at the bar. Get exceptional service from Scott, Frank, Krissy, or Cody. They are your experts on the beer that is in the fridge or on the 85 taps. Their service is excellent and their recommendations are excellent. GREAT FOOD! – The food is really great and the beer selection is great. As far as the crowd goes.. well..It is an older crowd, early late thirties eary forties. I think the service is great and the food is wonderful but the atmosphere sucks! Go there for dinner and/or lunch but don't make a night of it, trust me!
