Located in the Howard Johnson Inn, one might be surprised to find a Cuban restaurant in the middle of the desert. Its lively atmosphere is especially good for large groups. You can choose from such traditional Cuban dishes as ropa vieja (shredded beef) the Cubano sandwich, along with many other options. Indulge in a tropical dessert such as flan or tres leches cake. You just might find that Cuban food thrives anywhere, even in the desert.

The food here is awesome. – The food here is awesome, the service is great and the place is very nice and casual. I love eating here! I highly recommend you to come and eat here. The bar is also a great it has very classy drinks that taste fantastic.
Horriable service, stay away. – I took an out of town guest recently and I was embarrased. The service was HORRIBLE. First, they refused to exchange my cuban sandwisch side order (french fries) for yucca. What's the big deal? Second, they broght my glass of water so late I had almost finished eating. Third, after putting down my credit card, nobody came by to pick it up. I had to go to the bartender and practically beg to be charged. He agreed somebody should have picked it up. Never going back.
Worst dining experience in Las Vegas – We took a guest from out of town for dinner to this restaurant. We got there at 6.30pm on a Sunday night, and ordered our food, without any special requests. Most tables were empty, and there were plenty of waiters, most of them watching a show on TV. Over an hour later we were still waiting for our food, while other guests, who had arrived long after us, had already been served their orders. We approached one of the waiters to check on our order, since our waitress completely ignored u... read more
A taste of Cuba for a price that's right. – In Short Located on the seedier side of the Strip, amidst a motley assortment of ethnic restaurants and run down wedding chapels, this is a friendly standout. Cheerful yellow walls, a Moorish blue tiled fountain and wide French doors make this ethnic eatery an inviting place for a down-home Cuban meal. A variety of main dishes include chicken, fish, pork and beef, usually laden with garlic, onion, peppers or sausage.
THE BEST CUBAN FOOD IN TOWN – I JUST ATE AT THE FLORIDA CAFE. WHAT A GREAT PLACE. EXTREMELY NICE SERVERS THAT WILL HELP YOU WITH THE MENU. I WAS TREATED TO THE BEST ARROZ CON POLLO IN TOWN (RICE AND CHICKEN). MY WIFE HAD THE MARISCADAS (A BLEND OF SEAFOOD IN A DELICIOUS TOMATO SAUCE). AFTER DINNER WE HAD THE A DESERT THAT WAS CREATED BY THEM. IT WAS THE THREE MILK CAKE WITH FLAN ON TOP. WOW WAS IT DELICIOUS. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY HAD TO USE A WHEEL BARREL TO GET ME OUT OF THAT. I DON'T THINK YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.
Good casual spot – The service was very friendly. We felt like we were a guest in someone's home. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. The place is a little out-of-the way. Rice pudding was delish. There were two large family groups celebrating- enjoyable to be in that atmosphere.
Not worth it – I lived in Miami and ate Cuban food on a regular basis. I found the food to be OK, not special. The cost was totally out of line. I paid $52.87 ($8.00 tip included) for two dinners, coffees and deserts.
The real thing – I was born and raised in Miami and have since moved to Portland Or. but everytime I come to Las Vegas I always stop at the Florida Cafe. This is true, old fashioned Cuban food. Boliche, Ropa Vieja, Media Noches, black beans and rice and more. Soul food, cheap, filling & tasty. Just like coming home!
me casa es su casa – treat people better of different nationalitys- mostly customers act that way make sure there meats are well done. best home cook meal in town
