RecommendedIt’s one of my favorite little local Italian restaurants—a cozy, romantic byob in the center of State Street in Newtown.
We have been here a few times and like the atmosphere and service. The problem we have is that my boyfriend does not like mushrooms at all and almost everything has mushrooms in it. Even the taste of mushrooms in the sauce is too strong for him. That limits what he will eat there.
Italian bread was terrible. My meal was very good the other meal was bland and seemed like an afterthought. Salad was dry.
Very good, but I like Francisco's a little bit better. Same owners but dining is a little more private at Franciscos. At Florentino's it is as if you are dining with everyone in the restaurant, the tables are literally side by side and almost touching. Food is very awesome though... great lunches and dinners. I also love that both places are byob.
Once a year I get together with SJU college friends- our lunch today was perfect and we were lucky enough to land during restaurant week- lovely steamed mussels and pasta/chicken entrees... $10 a person. How is that even possible? And complimentary house garlic bread. I might go back tomorrow with mom!
