My sons and I ate there for lunch yesterday (June 15, 2014), and we enjoyed our meal. My son had the burger/fries, and my other son had the grilled cheese sandwich/fries, and they ate almost all of what was on their plate. I ordered the Broiled Seafood platter, and I liked everything on it, except for the crab cakes, which didn't taste good and was rather mushy. Our waitress was wonderful. Great Server/service!!! – My family and I are in Galveston on vacation and decided to stop by the Pleasure Pier construction and noticed the FishTales restaurant directly across the street. We stopped in only to be told the wait would be about thirty minutes. GREAT Happy hour! – We wanted good priced drinks and yummy appetizers, with an ocean view. This location fit the bill 100%. The Shrimp kisses=Heaven wrapped in bacon. I gave it a -1 star for being a chain location. There are several Landry's owned restaurants on the island. So I cannot give it a 5 for originality. This is a NO GO!!!!! – Please, if you are planning to visit Galveston and Fish Tales was going to be your choice for dining, DON'T! My husband and I were doing business on the island and afterwards decided to have lunch at this restaurant. We decided to eat out on the balcony. Great variety, awesome view – They have an amazing menu if you're a fish lover (which I'm not). I ordered the sliders and they were a little dry but much better than what I've had in some other places. My waitress was so wonderful. She was friendly and helpful and amazing. I loved looking out at the water as well with a completely unobstructed view.
AVOID – Why to avoid Fish Tales. Bad service and food. Me and my mom went to Fish Tales expecting great, fresh seafood. We wasted our money. I ordered the red fish and my mom ordered the snapper. 20 minutes later, our food arrives, looks great and we are excited. I take a bit of my fish and it is way over cooked and chewy. BAD SERVICE – The group of 8 that I was with was referred to Fish Tails in Galveston for dinner. After a day at the beach we went to make our evening reservations. We decided while we were there to go ahead and get an appetizer before we headed to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Bad service – Tonight (8/31/08) we went to Fish Tales with the other 2 families for totally 9 people around 9pm. The waitress only gave us two straws and said the restaurant run out of straw. Then we asked for bread because kids were tired and hungry after waiting for 30 min on the table. But she said the restaurant changed the policy plus there was no bread available; however, we did see other tables did serve some bread. The food taste ok, but the price is over its value.
